Near Miss

High tide at Kaiteriteri during the Summer and heaps of kids flock to the bridge over the outlet from the estuary. There they take turns to jump off the bridge into the deep pool immediately upstream. It takes a bit of nerve and a bit of common sense to check if there are no swimmers, kayakers and other water users in their line of fire! Here a young fellow wearing blue swimming trunks and another in a turquoise kayak give each other a bit of a fright.
