Feeding time
The weather didn't look promising for a walk this morning, but JohnRH and W arrived at 10.30 a.m. and we set off round the back and through the wood before emerging onto the path across the fields. There didn't seem to be any significant rain in the air so we crossed the two fields, and headed across to the railway line. A short walk along the old track, up past Skylark cottage to the top of the ridge and then back down towards home.
We didn't see many birds, but a kestrel was hovering above one of the fields and a blackcap accompanied us along the railway line, singing happily.
The heavens opened just after J & W left, and we were very thankful it had held off for our socially distanced walk. It is also SO good to talk to friends we haven't seen for such a long time.
JJ is now in the kitchen baking another lemon cake.
Mum and baby blackbird were in the garden this morning, and yesterday evening a grey wagtail was feeding on the back lawn. We get the pied wagtails in fairly regularly but have never seen a grey in the garden before.
I've just managed to book another shopping slot for next Friday and will try and get a regular Friday slot from now on.
