Day 21
Joyfully woke up early to full sunshine and headed to orchid glade. Normally, this weekend every year, it’s a meadow alive with butterflies and carpeted with wild flowers including twayblade and southern marsh orchid growing as high as your knees. Today, I found some thistles, a couple of buttercups, briar rose and a half eaten trefoil.
Not to be deterred, I looked a bit harder. I found 3, 2 inch high, orchids with deer/rabbit/insert herbivore of your choice - nibbled leaves. This meant going fully prone for the shot - so I’m giving myself a star for effort......and now it’s cold and rainy so back home with a cuppa feeling smug ;-)
