Catching the light on a showery day.
It's very blustery outside, and the showers today are sharp and heavy, some with hail.
I've just been out to top up the bird feeders, as the goldfinches are back regularly once again.
Stephen has gone up to Sainsbury's to do the shopping.
I've actually done some cleaning this morning!
Very desultory I might add, but it's a start!
(I do however clean the bathroom regularly, and the downstairs loo)
Not that you needed to know all that!
A phone call with one of our relatives in North Yorkshire this morning.
She has been in hospital, and has been so weak that she was transferred to a 20+ bed rest home afterwards, as she could not walk.
Still in isolation, but it was so good to talk with her as the staff brought the phone to her to use when we spoke to them.
She has never had a mobile.
I cried when I heard her voice. It was good to talk to her, both of us, as we put her on speaker phone here.
She lives alone now, although one of her daughters lives nearby, and she knows there is a long road ahead. A lot of things have to be put in place before she can go back to her own home. But she has always had great grit and determination.
One of the first things she said to us was "How are you now Stephen?"
He was able to tell her he can now ride his bike once again.
Then another session with the jigsaw puzzle just before lunch.
Just now I am looking at the garden through a blur of raindrops on our patio window.
Each shower comes with an accompaniment of strong gusts of wind, which blow the shrubs and roses hither and thither.
Hubby got back with the shopping just in time.
Time for a brew as they say!
