Overkill?

A beautiful, giant palm tree is at the end of the road which leads into my housing development.  It looks like the owner wanted it trimmed.  This might be the silliest attempt at landscaping I have ever seen.

EDIT:
1. I think it's ironic that there are now huge fences and cement barricades around the White House during the Black Lives Matter demonstrations because it was slaves who built it.
2. Today in 1944, General Dwight Eisenhower stuck a handwritten note into his pocket.  In case the D-Day invasion wasn't successful, the man who would become president had written that he would accept full responsibility for any failure. 
Thanks to the troops from the UK, Canada, the US and others for dying on those shores in an effort to save democracy. They didn't die in vain.

Interesting but useless fact:
In a 2004 episode of Sesame Street, Cookie Monster revealed that before he started eating cookies his name was Sid.
