In and out.

One family moving out and another hopefully moving in.   The Great Tits have started to fledge at the moment there are only two of the five left in the nest box.  I doubt they will go today.

At the other side of the house the House Martins  (Delichon urbicum) spent a lot of the day visiting last years nest and they have to repair the damage done by the House Sparrows which always try to nest there early in the season.  Their attempts at making the entrance suitable always results in it becoming too big.

The dark strip to the right of the entrance is the new mud they have been using for the repairs.  At one time we would have 3 nests.  However for reasons not not yet fully understood the population is declining.  I personally suspect the expansion of the Sahara southwards, caused by climate change, is making the crossing more difficult and many don't survive.
