Early walk

I’ve been waking at 4am every day recently. I’ve heard many people have experienced bizarre sleeping patterns during lockdown. This morning I couldn’t stay in bed and rest so I got up. I collected some lavender and roses from the garden and bustled the dog into the car. I drove to the church where my first husband is buried and laid the flowers on his grave. Then I let the dog lead me across the common on a walk of his own devising. He managed to lead me to a National Trust woodland which I never knew existed: clever dog!!

It turned out to be a soul-lifting experience even though I’ve had a bad stomach all day and have had to rest a lot. I’m still exhausted and am praying I sleep better tonight.
