Damsons

The damson crop looks like being quite good this autumn.  A short section of one of our hedgerows contains quite a few damson trees and each year we look forward to the making and consumption of damson pie, stewed damsons and clotted cream, damson flavoured gin and damson jam.  The fruit must have been set successfully before the hard frost of early May, but our plums will be very scarce. (Such poor focus, I was at full stretch!)
