Red flag

We had a trip to the beach at West Wittering this afternoon. Access is by pre-booking the car park that lies behind the beach. Along from the beach are sand dunes and a coastal inlet managed by the National Trust. The beach wasn't too crowded but there was a lively wind coming off the sea and the current was so strong that the lifeguards red flagged the beach so that no one could go in for a swim or frolic in the waves. Not that I was planning to anyway as it was so chilly in that wind.
