Who am I, what and why?
We had a lovely lie in this morning in the hotel in Bristol. A leisurely breakfast and check out at noon. Bliss. Both of us were feeling quite tired so it was great to have a good rest. I (Chris) popped out to take a few photos in Bristol docks before we headed off exploring further afield.
It was a beautiful sunny day and we started by heading up to Clifton and crossing the suspension bridge. Just because. We then headed for the seaside at Weston-super-Mare. On the way we took the A370 - Long Ashton bypass - which Annie had read about in one of her super nerdy internet surfing sessions. It was apparently meant to be the South Bristol spur, a motorway into the South of Bristol to match the M32 to the North. It was never built but the A370 follows its route out of Bristol. Some bridges, junctions and width of road have a motorway feel about them. On to Weston-super-Mare with Annie-super-Nerd.
We had a lovely walk along the seafront with Annie wishing she had a dog to throw balls for (as I refuse to collect balls that are thrown for me ;0) ). Lovely lunch at a seafront Italian cafe then a wander along the rebuilt Grand Pier. Then back to the car to head off for our main appointment.
The main purpose of the day was to check out the venue for Annie's birthday party in the summer. It's going to be fun. Then back home via the sunset at Portishead (the subject of today's blip) to a lecture from the cat about being away.
'Cause nobody loves me
It's true
Not like you do
Who am I, what and why?
'Cause all I have left is my memories of yesterday
Oh these sour times
Jolly band Portishead, weren't they?
