Day 88: Invasion

I have often wondered if one day Spain would ever invade Gibraltar and seize it back from British Colonial rule.

Today, however, the roles were reversed. Spain and Gibraltar opened their border so that not just Spanish residents could cross, as has been the case till now.

Within minutes of the announcement, hordes of Gibraltarians raced for the frontier to experience their first moments of freedom in nearly three months. As you can see from the extra, the queue to pass into Spain grew from virtually nothing in moments.

I can't say I blame them. I wouldn't like to be cooped up there for more than a day, let alone 88.
