A Day Worth Recording

Starting in earnest on my list of the pre-decorating jobs.  This was one of the more comfortable ones. We'd had the electrician do the work to update all the light switches & wiring in one section but that included two rooms which are not on the decorating list. (They back on to the one that is being done, and the wiring goes through the wall).

This was previously a double-height, rather antique (in a bad way) switch of which only one half was actually connected to anything.

Bringing it back to a 'standard size' single switch made a mess of the surrounding wall.  Seems my wallpaper patching skills are still tolerable.

The bigger trauma was committing to a solution to the lounge door.  This door is BIG, extremely solid, and a bit warped so didn't fit as well as needed for fire purposes.  Pulling it shut enough to engage the catch was pulling the door frame apart.

Thus, a stressful decision to cut quite a way into the frame to make it fit the door.  Happily, it seems to have 'worked' reasonably well but I'm still going to look at it with doubt and regret.

Now the over-strong door catch mechanism needed attention.  Yea. Just the time to find its innards have been generously bodged (though the outside had less paint on than usual - small blessings, I guess).
