Matakanui

Not many people know Matakanui even exists - well it barely exists now. It was a busy town with pub, shop, school and about 100 residents, not counting the women or the Chinese, way back. They were hunting for the elusive gold. What conditions they must have put up with - freezing cold winters and roasting hot summers. It's worth a visit to ponder the past.
