Launde Big Wood.

What a fabulous morning out and about!

Continuing my Friday's off work using up leave and visiting a different Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust reserve each Friday theme saw me, this week at Launde Woods, which were magical. Extremely peaceful and lots of fascinating things to see. I had the whole place to myself and spent a wonderful time exploring, and getting damp legs from the long grass, see extras.

I'm not sure I do it justice in my snaps but, trust me, it is a really lovely gem of a place with some magnificent old oaks to boot. I saw buzzard and kestrel plus during a coffee break leaning on a gate at the edge of the woods I was transfixed by a red kite riding the thermals. I didn't have the long lens with me but, in a way, glad I didn't as I could spend more time watching it and just enjoying its aerobatics.
