Battered ..

of course.

A truly dismal day but I’m not sure why we are surprised as these adorable Peonies get battered every year at the same time. It can’t always be flaming June!
The earlier flowering red ones have finished and generally got away with it but the lovely ‘ raspberry ripple’ buds I featured before on blip have struggled against the heavy rain as they have opened.

I went out when the rain had eased a bit to photograph them but some were bent so low they were almost touching the ground. Decided to cut a few and bring them in the house to enjoy.
They have a lovely scent too.
