Harlequin ladybird

This morning I made a loaf of bread and did a bit of paperwork. This afternoon I went for my walk.  The village swans still have seven cygnets which are growing well but the moorhen family are sadly down to one chick.   

While I was walking I saw three chiffchaff chicks and this harlequin ladybird.  They're from Asia originally and the most successful invasive species in the world out competing native ones for food and eat their lavae and eggs.  They also outbreed our native ladybirds as they start laying eggs five days after hatching.
