Royal Exchange Hotel Marrickville

Sydney has done a great job of demolishing much of its art deco buildings from the CBD but I'm pleased that there are plenty left in inner west suburbs. The deco style was popular for theatres and pubs and the Royal Exchange Hotel in Marrickville is a fine example.

I was particularly taken by this group having a good time at their bar. They would have been the envy of many passers by during the shut down. Having taken this photo, I noticed that life sized silly human sculptures on awnings on Marrickville Road are a thing. Watch this space on Saturdays for more!
