Our Queen's official birthday.

Today is the Queen's official birthday; it is being marked with a new ceremony instead of the usual annual Trooping the Colour parade, as the coronavirus lockdown continues. It is only the second time in her 68-year reign that the parade in London has not gone ahead. Instead, Windsor Castle is hosting a ceremony with a small number of Welsh Guardsmen and military musicians.

An opportune time to dig into my boxes of old Kodachromes. This was the scene in Suva, Fiji in June 1971, as the Fijian army fired a 21 gun salute in honour of her Majesty's official birthday.
