SILLY SATURDAY - HAVING FUN!
I knew it wouldn’t be long before JH Ted and his little friend found their way onto Mr. HCB’s contraptions in the garden. I have to say that the beans have been growing very fast after the two days of gentle rain and are looking very good. However, Mr. HCB was not best pleased to see two bears climbing on the netting covering the contraptions and when he rang out there, they soon climbed down! I just hope they don’t have ideas of crawling through the polytunnels because that might just tip Mr. HCB over the edge!
We went out for a walk together first thing this morning, which was very pleasant and it’s quite a warm day today. It’s amazing to see how much things have grown in the last few days - and it was good to be out taking in all the sights and smells of early summer. It would be good if we could have gentle rain in the night and then sunny days, but somehow life doesn’t always work like that, does it?
When we got back, Mr. HCB and I watched Trooping the Colour on the television and were very impressed with the way the Welsh Guards practised the social distancing. It was amazing to see how they marched and then fanned out, still keeping two metres apart and it was great to hear some rousing music too. The Queen looked wonderful for her age but sadly we didn’t see Prince Philip. We stood up twice for the National Anthem - Mr. HCB’s grandfather, who always stood when it was played, even when he was in his nineties, would have been proud of us.
I think a sit in the garden with a cup of coffee and a good book will do us nicely for the afternoon. Hope you all have a great weekend - keep well and stay safe.
I came across this quote and it reminded me of a wonderful YouTube video I watched several years ago - you can see it here - what a great man Randy Pausch was and such an inspiration to his students and many others too. There is a longer version, but this is only ten minutes long, and he says these words seven minutes in:
“Never, ever underestimate
the importance
of having fun.”
Randy Pausch : 1960-2008
P.S. Just checked and the money for the vegetable peelers is in our credit card account as well as the non-sterling transaction fee, so a good result. In case anyone else is tempted to buy them, the name of the firm to avoid is Trendise Co.
