Hot Water Beach

We joined the hoards this afternoon with our shovels down at Hot Water Beach. Took us a little while to find the hot spring, but find it we did! The sand where it runs was too hot to stand on, so we dug ourselves out a big hole, and nabbed some of the hot from our neighbour's pool...they very kindly shared. We lolled about in the water until the tide came back in, and destroyed all the walls of the pools and brought the cold sea water in.

Something very surreal about digging in the low tide sand and hitting hot water. The warnings say that the water is up to around 65 degrees celsius, and from some of the parts we tapped into, I can well believe it.

Other than this, we've mostly pottered today. Went to the beach and play ground. It's turning out to be a lovely holiday so far. I loved seeing the girls' faces as they realised that we weren't yanking their chain about digging for hot water. Too cute!
