Happy Birthday Roger!
Thursday
Today was Roger’s birthday, and the weather cooperated, blessing us with a beautiful day. After breakfast, the four of us went downtown for a walk along the riverfront, from International Friendship Park through the end of Smale Riverfront Park, which is new to Philip, since it’s quite a number of years since he has been home, between us being gone in France for 3 1/2 years, and him having been out of the country twice! We‘ve met up in different parts of the country over those years, but not actually at home! Smale Park was looking a picture this morning, it’s flower beds full of colour. From there we went to The Incline, a pub/restaurant on top of a hill in Price Hill, overlooking the city. It is so called because it was once the site of an incline railway. This was our first time eating out in over three months, and part of the reason we chose it, apart from the view, was because we know it has a very large covered patio area. Tables were also spaced well apart, and servers were wearing masks, so we felt quite safe. Whereas we’re not sure we’re ready for dining inside yet! Philip and Laura prepared the evening meal, Philip serving pecan-crusted Red Snapper with sautéed potatoes and asparagus for the main course, and Laura serving Black Forest gateau for dessert! If you’re wondering what’s on top of the gateau, they are Rainier cherries which are yellow and red - they’d sold out of the red ones! A good day, and so wonderful to have two of the kids home to share his birthday! Thanks Philip and Laura!
