Angry birds not angry elephants!

It was a close run thing with this one There are so many festivals here this month and last.. One can lose oneself in the intensity of it all; there is probably no other way to experience them. The locals let off mini bombs to attract God's attention. My fear is that they will spook the elephants and sometimes things do. Just a 2 weeks ago one of the elephants broke loose and three women were killed.

Just after this we called in a small temple and my Indian friends were overjoyed that we witnessed a very auspicious sacred moment as the doors of the inner sanctum were thrown open and the priest within showered us with flowers and holy water..
