Getting the sparkle back

Cityscape

This is the view from part of the way up Easter Craiglockhart Hill, a repeat of last Sunday's walk, but this time with T rather than J. The weather wasn't as good as a week ago, but again it was lovely to be out and about with someone else.

Here you can see the castle on the skyline and to the right among the church spires are the cranes for the new St James development where progress had stopped - maybe is still stopped, I don't know. The long building in the foreground is George Watson's College, an independent school. I don't know what the large ugly office block is just to the right of the castle. Update from 21st June: it's part of the Merchiston campus of Napier University. The visibility wasn't great, but was better than I'd expected.

We spent some time on the top of the hill working out the view and I made some progress leading on from last week's walk. I should take a map next time! We also visited Craiglockhart Pond and saw the swan family whose cygnets are turning into lanky adolescents - I Iove them like that with their comical tiny wings. The mallard family with their six ducklings were on the water too.
