Cup Marked Offering Stone

Today is International Holy Well Day 2020. To the best of my knowledge there are no Holy Wells here in Finland. The Lutherans succeeded the Roman Catholics a long time ago and of course Lutherans would not exactly fall head over heels for such things. They are, even today, a rather conservative, some might even say austere bunch.
Before any of them of course there were the pagans and here in Finland they used these cup marked offering stones particularly in the late Iron Age (7th to 12th Centuries AD). There are around 450 of them known to exist and there is no pattern discernible in the cups except in two cases where the indentations depict the constellation Ursa Major.
According to oral tradition offerings to the dead were placed in the cup markings but there was also a fertility cult associated with them expressing a desire for better crops and a good future and health for newly born children, and included offerings to cure illnesses.
So, even though I cannot find a Holy Well, there are other equally interesting ancient objects to be found instead.
