Looking Over My Shoulder

Three times as warm

I went for a walk along a coastal path in Eastney today. It was a rubbish day weatherwise and was pretty cold with quite a bitter wind.

Along the path there is a memorial to the Armed Forces called the People's Memorial. It was started as a pile of stones by a man called Willie Goldfinch and over time has grown and is now a permanent memorial

Just to the side of the memorial are a few white doves which represent peace. They have permanent dove homes but are free to come and go as they please. These three were fluffed up to keep themselves warm in the cold and I was able to get relatively close to them. I think people regularly leave food for them and they seem very well cared for. It's a lovely gesture at such a poigniant spot of the walk.

Hope you're all having a great weekend!
