Experimental Art

We purchased this whimsical figure while in the Patzcuaro. My understanding is that the artists create this figurines while under the influence of various hallucinogenic substances, most notably peyote. This leads to incredible innovative, intensely colorful designs. It seemed reasonable that the photographic capture of such a creation required a more interpretive approach, not just your typical straightforward documentation. Lots of experimentation with different lengths of exposure and levels of zooming led to this final result. I'm not certain I captured exactly what I envisioned in my mind, but it is more expressive of what we have sitting on our mantel.
