Don't Fret About it!
Well...it was warm and sunny when I parked the car at West Runton Beach Car Park. Then when B, H and I walked down the steep slope onto the beach we were engulfed in this sea fret. It was rather an ethereal, enveloping experience, both beautiful and mysterious. The beach was pretty much deserted to begin with and the extra shows our only companions were some gulls (both images best seen in large). We walked all the way to the edge of Cromer but we still couldn't see the pier! It was lovely to (almost) see some fulmars nesting up on the cliffs, I could just make out their sooty eyes, apparently they can live for up to 40 years!
A sea fret occurs when the cold air which sits just above the sea's surface cools the warm air above it until it can no longer hold its moisture. This forces it to condense into tiny particles of water which form the fog that we see.
