Astonishing accuracy...

... of weather forecast.

We are experts at criticising the accuracy of the weather forecast, but having endured an incredibly dull and dark morning, I consulted the BBC Weather online to see if we were due some improvement.

With seemingly unbelievable optimism, the forecast for 3pm was for sunny intervals, whilst the rest of the day showed varying degrees of cloudiness.

At 2:45, off I went to test their hypothesis. At the appointed hour there was a hint of blue in the sky and the clouds gradually parted. By 3:30 I had to use the trunk of this tree to mask the bright sunshine.

My final choice for today's blip was taken about a minute later, with actual shadows through the trees.
