Narrow Boats
The Kennet and Avon Canal goes through Kintbury and there are always barges moored up there. And they always look attractive and make one dream of messing about on the river or giving eveything up to live on a barge!
There were about 16 boats moored at Kintbury when I was there and this is a blip of one just setting off.
The canal was started in 1794 and completed in 1810, is 87 miles long and has 105 locks one of which is at Kintbury. The 87 miles are made up of 2 sections of navigable river one of which is where the canal links into the River Kennet at Newbury.
It's great for waterside walking, watching red kites and narrow boats.
