New mirrors old
I've been to an Artisan market in Castlefield today. When the rain cleared it was surprisingly busy for a miserable early February day. We've been going to this particular market for 15 months and about 1o of those have been appalling weather.
It's quite a strange little market; nestled under the old Victorian arches that carry the trams. The canal runs through too, all remnants of the industrial revolution. But there's masses of regeneration going on as well, and several cool and trendy bars have taken up residence (apparently Mick Hucknall used to part own one). Then, just under the arches, there's the remains of a Roman Fort.
This is a photo that I've taken a few times over the months. It looks lovely when the sky is blue, but today it looked miserable and industrial. The huge modern monstrosity is Beetham Tower, some 169 metres high, 47 floors and the tallest building outside of London. I was really struck today by how it mirrored the shape of the little cotton mill nestling under its shadow.
Incongruous don't you think?
In other news:
It was great to catch up with foody-business friends, David my talented potter friend, and terrific that my old old friend Cal popped by. We had a good old goss and now the world is right ;-)
Nice to see Jessica too and also other Twitter friends.
Heading home now and Mrs Organised is supremely proud that she prepped a steak and ale casserole last night, and it's been in the slow cooker since 5.30am! Woot woot!
Hope your Sunday evening is chilled. Not looking forward to tomorrow morning. Boo!

PS: Italy beat France :-))
