Reclaiming the pavements

There are two ways you can look at it when there's a hole in the pavement. One is complain to the Council in the sure and certain knowledge that nothing will be done, since they have too many problems with the roads themselves ever to get round to the likes of us and our footways.

Better still is put some compost in it, plant something appropriate and decorate it with shells, knowing that everyone will like and carefully walk round it, in a thoroughly civilised community.

I'm not sure the Council would be quite so relaxed if we did some gardening in selected potholes, but it might provoke them into fixing a few.
