Tumbling Dice

Just visible in the background is our previous tumble dryer which gave up the ghost last night. Fortunately, a quick search on the local Facebook sell & seek page turned up the “new” one.
Because our washing machine and dryer live in a slightly damp, unheated garage we never buy brand new, as it’s just not worth it. It usually only takes a little bit of searching to find something suitable nearby, when the need arises.
This one looks good at first sight. Sold by a couple of young lads who had to carry it down three flights of stairs - wasn’t going to offer to help with that!! But it’s in excellent condition - very clean and no dents or scratches. Plugged it in to check it was working (it was!) and downloaded the manual off t’internet as I need to swap the way the door opens.
Quite strange picking it up. It was the sort of transaction I’d done many times before, but there was just a little edge in the air because no one was quite sure how close we could get to each other when lifting it into the car! I think we just about managed to keep a sensible distance apart.
Very nice, polite lads - asked how we were coping which felt weird as it suddenly made me realise that they probably saw me as a contemporary of their grandparents, whilst I always think of myself as still being young!!
Very lucky with the weather - only just got it into the garage before the heavens opened with a violent storm overhead.
Thankfully, the Council tip reopened a couple of weeks back so the old one can be taken for recycling tomorrow.
