Duckett's Grove, Carlow

What a find! Only 11 mins from my house. At S's suggestion we went to get a walk in Ducketts Grove, Carlow. It was a joy. Peaceful, regal, spacious. I just wanted to gather it all up in a big hug.

Apparently, it might look a little less abandoned if it had been left to the Ducketts only daughter, Olive. But he died, and the mother did not get on with the daughter and left her 'an angry shilling' from a nearly 100,000 pound estate back in the 1920s! What a legacy to leave behind. Shame on her. But you never know what goes on in families.

I have been discovering so much in my local area since March. Just a couple more weeks to go before lockdown lifts.
