Castle Acre Priory

It was perishing cold this morning, so we had these ruins practically to ourselves. The main entrance to what would have been the church is very well preserved and has very detailed carvings on the stone that are still visible. This is looking out through what would have been the west door. There are two further stories above this one, but the lower part with a view through to some trees worked best.

Castle Acre is a beautiful village, with a priory, a castle, a couple of pubs and a couple of coffee shops, one with an open fire. Well worth a visit - just choose a warmer day!
