Hobbs's Run

G'day mate

"You wouldn't have a slice o' bread for a poor starving emu, would ya mate?"

These two make a pretty fair living, posing for motorists by the side of Browns Gap Road, on the way to Lithgow. They really do seem to have the act down pat so far as I can see. Every time we go past, they are there or thereabouts, being fussed over by someone. They are even getting picky about what they will eat, it seems. "But this is YESTERDAY's bread."

Jophreeves photographed two emus near here some years ago but I am pretty sure they were not the same ones. We have watched these grow up over recent times. They seem to be semi tame and are probably cared for by the property owner. The two older birds (blipped many years ago) don't seem to be around anymore and have probably passed away.

For those not familiar with Australian emus, they are the second largest flightless birds in the world. Many of them, standing fully erect, are more than 1.5 metres tall. Gotta see LARGE of course.
