Meet Miss Kim
Dear Diary,
I planted a Korean lilac bush, a variety called "Miss Kim", last September and watered it every day hoping it would develop a good root system before the cold weather got there. Then I worried all winter about whether it would survive the snow, ice and -25F temperatures. The first nice spring day, I started making regular checks to see if any tiny leaves were emerging. And here it is, Miss Kim! Healthy and thriving and putting out beautiful flowers. Friends have two in front of their home and I loved how they bloomed a month after the French lilacs. I plan to keep it well pruned so it doesn't get too large but am delighted that Miss Kim has rewarded me with a lovely first display of fragrant flowers.
