Throughout history geese have been looked on a guardians of some sort or another.  

My Big Boys Bumper Book of History mentions geese preventing the Sack of Rome during that period in history when there was a lot of sacking going on.

Our house insurance is due for renewal; I'll see if I can get away with 'goose' under 'type of burglar alarm'.
