Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days Of Summer
Couldn't resist the pure joy in this one. Today was Jon's birthday and Josie was busy with work so Na'iema came along and celebrated and we took her out to breakfast at my new favorite bakery, then home to enjoy some pool time and 90F heat.
Next we went out for a late lunch/early dinner to what we thought would be an Indian restaurant but the only open restaurant on Elm Street was an Irish pub, not the same at all - sorry to any Irish Blippers.
Then we drove to meet up with a woman who baked his birthday cake (chocolate cherry). At that point it was 5 p.m. and we took the little Miss home to her parents. Next we attended a vigil in honor of George Floyd in our little town. This is a town of just under 6,000 and the softball grandstand was full with some social distancing. There was a brief and inclusive prayer by the local minister, a very good speaker who grew up in Virginia as a black man and 8 minutes and 43 seconds of silence. Very powerful. I was proud of our little town and the people that organized it (see extra). On the way out, the nearby Hay field was being mowed and baled - I think it was a very good first cut (also in extra).
