Fledgeling Great Tit (Parus major)
It looked as if it was going to be another damp day. Seeing this fledgeling, presumably from our nest box a few metres away. It gave the impression it was trying to shelter under the Iris leaf. So following my usual "take a few shots to be sure there is something in the camera" habit I took a few shots.
As the day turned out I took nothing I liked better. The nestlings from our clutch still seem to be around and doing fine. By now it is getting a little difficult at first glance to tell adults from young. They are the same size as adults however the plumage isn't just as crisp and clear or bright as the adults.
