Such a wet and drippy day , perfect for a day of domestic chores. I thought I would share , with anyone who is interested , a Washing solution that is kind to the environment and gives purpose to Dave’s great delight and enthusiasm for searching for conkers through the autumn months . I have promised to be more enthusiastic next time .

The Horse Chestnut tree is related to the soap berry  shrub whose nuts are used to produce a soapy liquid used by many people in India to do their laundry .
The conker has the same properties , it produces a soapy liquid which cleans the clothes as well as anything you can buy .

Directions for making conker laundry solution .
1. Gather fresh conkers and smash into small pieces,
.2. Dry in oven , on a low heat, for several hours.
3. Store until required .
4. Take 40g of dried conkers and add 500mls boiling water.
5. Leave to soak for 15 mins.
6. Strain and use the soapy liquid in your machine as normal.
7. Repeat by adding 500mls boiling water to the already soaked conker pieces and leave for an hour and use as required or keep in fridge until next time .

We have been using it since last autumn and have been very impressed .

Wishing everyone passing by a pleasant weekend .
