Midsummer flower

We had an early walk on what counts as midsummer, as this year has been a leap year. Today is definitely the best of the weather for the weekend, and we've enjoyed it.

After the walk, and breakfast, I cleaned the balcony railing, which was filthy. Moss and green algae aplenty. Much better now, to go with a fairly clean deck. I've also set some succulent cuttings to see if they take.

We sat out most of the afternoon, except when it got rather windy and cold, reading our books. Mr A suggested we fashion a Pimms out of what we had available. Not quite all the appropriate ingredients, but we managed something quite nice.

Later it was, of course, pasta Saturday. Cannelloni today, and it wasn't entirely successful. Some tweaks needed next time. And we made twice as much as we could eat. But it was still pretty nice, and of course fun to make.

This evening we watched the National Theatre adaptation of Small Island, and were most impressed.

It's amazing how much of an improvement stems from having decent weather.
