Making Do

Another day of self-isolating at home, with some time spent in the backyard again, cutting back overly enthusiastic plant plants, both cultivated and wild.

This is Orange Hawkweed, a plant native to Europe that shows up in our backyard every year. It's considered a noxious weed in our state, but nonetheless, I like all of its permutations.

Devil's Paintbrush, Devil's Weed, and Grim the Collier (see the second paragraph in the link) are among the plant's other common names.

I find the unfolding bud in today's photo fascinating in how different it looks when compared to the fully opened flower. Check out the extra photo, showing an even earlier state, as well!
