Money Box.

It seems the pandemic, has brought forward the closing down, of banks and ATMs.

So, how do we now teach children the value of money, if we can't give them coins to put in their money box.  That they can save up to go and buy that toy or sweets they wanted.

My children had bank accounts as soon as they were born.  Money was regularly deposited at Easter, Christmas and birthdays.

They also had a money box each, which they excitedly put money into.

When they came to Australia, the Commonwealth Bank came to school, once a week.  They loved taking their paying in book and their $5 a week to pay in.

Through doing this they both learnt the value of money and both saved hard.

When they left school, they both bought brand new cars, without any loans.  Over the years they have never asked us to help them out.

Now children think you stick a piece of plastic in a machine, and it's magically paid for.

For now, I will continue to give my grandchildren money, for as long as I can.
