Walking the Line - the Haytor Granite Tramway
Walked 12 miles today from Haytor to Ilsington and Liverton and back along the Templer Way. This section is in Yarner Woods. You can see the raiway/tramway made from granite. This was erected in 1820 to transport granite from the Haytor Quarries to Teigngrace, about seven miles away. From there it went by canal to Teignmouth and then to London, where it was used for the construction of London Bridge and other buildings.
