Another cityscape
This is the view from the same spot as last Sunday's blip but to the right of that view. The tall dome left of centre is part of Edinburgh University's Old College buildings and if you look hard you may just be able to make out the "golden boy" on top of the dome, who represents youth with the torch of learning. Old College was designed by Robert Adam and William Playfair, two of Edinburgh's most famous architects. I spent a lot of time there from 1988 to 1991 studying law. There's more about Old College here.
The building with the flat dome to the right of Old College is McEwan Hall, another university building, used for graduation ceremonies, concerts, conferences etc.
In front of these university buildings are modern rectangular glass buildings which are part of the Quartemile redevelopment of the old Royal Infirmary site. I trained as a nurse there and then worked as a staff nurse - that was before I studied law. I have connections with other parts of Edinburgh, but they aren't in this view.
I don't know what the square glass tower with the red tiled roof is to the left of the glass Quartermile buildings - maybe it's part of the same development.
The pale rectangular building with the tall windows to the right of the photo is the Edinburgh University Informatics building.
T and I enjoyed last Sunday's walk so much that we did it again. This time we got wet as it rained quite hard at times. However we managed to shelter under trees when it was at its wettest, otherwise we would have got soaked. We weren't too unhappy with the rain as getting wet was a bit of a novelty.
