Nearly Finished

Dear Diary,

My peonies are nearly finished for another year.  Honestly, they did not put on their usual show.  Cold spring, lack of rain, sudden heat...I don't know why but this one gave me a good show next to the Catmint.  These pinks are the last to bloom.  Yesterday was a respite from the brutal heat which was wonderful.  There may be a bit of rain tomorrow and I have my fingers crossed.  Maine has red fire warning now.  Dangerous fire conditions exist.  The woods are tinder dry.  I hope there is no lightning strikes to start a fire.  It is constantly on my mind.
