My Own Bike

Perhaps not having confidence in my own puncture repair I have been using S's bike this last while.
In its favour the newer bike (S's which he has outgrown now) has better brakes, a gear change that is slick and never misses or jumps, and even front suspension.
Realising that the tyre on my own bike remained solid I did this, now familiar, 23km circuit on my state of the art 1990ish model.
There was a lot of oaths as it jumped cogs unexpectedly and the shifter wouldn't  select a much needed lower gear on demand. The solid frame didn't offer much comfort either. However, I felt like my pace was scorching compared with the other bike and when I got home I stepped off feeling fresh and able to go again easily. None of this trembling legs business, I was surprised at my new found fitness.

The reality is my own bike is the right size for me. Without any science, raising the seat on a frame that is too small is simply not the same and the rider is working very hard to keep going forward.

I am bemused by the recent appearance of this sign. Do you really need directions to find the Grey Corries?
