Protected
We live in small passage way, here in Barcelona, that is privately owned by the residents (17 of us). It's architecturally protected but that doesn't stop dog owners bringing their pets to do their business in it, knowing it is hidden from view and they can let things lie. Or parents bringing their kids to skateboard up and down when we are working in rooms that give directly onto our little street (aka front garden). So, we put up some signs saying we are certified as private by the city authority and asking respect for our health and tranquility . . . we pay for the asphalt which the dogs' urine undermines and disfigures and have a chain at one end to stop non-resident cars coming in - it's a cul-de-sac.
Let's see what happens but at least we feel we have made a stand....closing the street with gates is the bigger project that we have on the go!
