Ray on Beach

Yesterday morning we caught the ferry back to Auckland, and then drove up to the beach. Wednesday is Waitangi Day; a public holiday to commemorate the signing of the Treaty. Two sets of relatives (cousins of S and their partners) are visiting NZ and will be here on Wednesday. So we have organised for our daughters and the two Auckland grandboys to stay on Tuesday night. I will commute tomorrow.

This morning was bleak, wet, windy; a word I've learned since joining Blip is the only one which fits. A dreich morning, although not cold. So I stayed in bed longer. The weather has improved in that there is no mist and little drizzle now. Had a late afternoon jog and walk along the beach. Birds, spray from the windswept waves on the rocks. And a washed up ray on the beach. I was drawn to it by seeing a gull standing on it.

I was looking for something mineral for the weekly challenge having not done anything for last week's word (fruit). Will need to keep trying.

Dinner soon with Queensland based cousin and partner. He has brought a really nice Clare Valley (South Australia) Shiraz. Time to go and enjoy.
