Batesian mimicry

Hover fly pretending to be a wasp- Batesian mimicry. Continuing my attempt at marking National Insect week. Almost had a shot of a Mayfly in flight , but just as I started to raise the camera a Robin came out of nowhere and caught it, far too fast for me to get an action shot, so there you go mugged by a Robin. We also discovered rather a lot of caterpillars working their way through the sprouting broccoli that has survived slugs, winter torrential rain and drought, the extras are some examples of this latest attack
